Story of Hamda Nasir -Goalkeeper

I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Hargeisa, where my journey in football began in 2018. I am currently a proud member of the Ubah Center girls’ football team, playing as a goalkeeper—a role that has become a major part of my identity and purpose.

My passion for football was sparked when I discovered a safe and supportive space dedicated to girls at Ubah          Center. It was the first time I felt I could truly play without fear or judgment. The environment gave me the              freedom to grow and express myself through sport. I received continuous encouragement from the Ubah Center      staff, which have always believed in the dreams of girls and pushed us to pursue them with confidence.

One of the most meaningful parts of my journey “has been the support of my coach, who worked tirelessly with      me to improve my skills. With her guidance and my determination, I was proud to be recognized as the Best            Goalkeeper in Hargeisa” a moment that proved to me and others what is possible when girls are given a chance.

However, the path wasn’t easy. In the beginning, my family didn’t support my involvement in sports, and I had       to face a society that didn’t yet understand or accept the idea of girls playing football—or sports in general.               Despite these obstacles, I stayed committed to my passion and worked hard to prove that girls can succeed in           any field, including sports.

Today, I stand as a goalkeeper, but also as a symbol of resilience, determination, and hope for every girl who            dreams of playing. My story is a reminder that with the right support, a safe space, and a strong spirit, girls can      break barriers and achieve greatness.
